Worldly Distractions……

Hi guys!  I hope that everyone has had an awesome week so far!  Lately, I have been feeling….distracted.  I have not been as disciplined as I should be with reading the Word and praying.  Have you ever felt like this and wondered why??  Well lets talk about it 🙂

The bottom line is this.  Living in the world is a constant reminder that our flesh is real.  It is so easy to get distracted and be easily influenced by what the world is doing… or lack thereof.  As strong women of God who truly desire to live the Word and not just read it, it is imperative that we stay focused and keep our eyes on God.  It is important that we guard our hearts and our eyes.  Everything is not meant to see nor feel and of course, everything that glitters is not gold.

I can not stress enough how powerful it is to be around other believers who have your best interest at heart and who know the Lord for themselves.  To be involved in a circle of people that encourages you, holds you accountable and speaks truth and life into you and not death is priceless.

We need to be more careful how we spend our time and definitely who we spend our time with!  The shows that we watch, the music we listen to and the people we hang around the most have a huge impact on the seeds that we plant into our hearts.

Lets be clear.  Satan wants nothing more than to pull you away from going to church, reading your Word and spending intentional time with Him.  The week that I didn’t spend time with God (no TV, Phone, Music or Noise; just me and God), I felt bad! I felt thirsty for the Word!

When I began reading Leviticus on Sunday afternoon, my whole world was wrecked!  Gosh! There is so much power in the name of Jesus and His Word; I am reminded of that every time I read his Word and cry out to Him.  There is so much information in the Bible that you need to know.  We must become more intentional about spending time with Him, just like we are intentional about watching out favorite shows during the week!! Y’all know I am telling the truth!

Don’t be distracted by the empty sin/heartache that this world has to offer you.  Those of you who are remaining abstinent until marriage, keep pushing.  Everything is so sexually charged these days, but trust me, there is still room for purity and for sex to be within marriage.  If it is a deep desire within your heart for you to wait to share your body with your husband on your wedding day, then God will grant you that desire.  We must remember that even our own bodies don’t belong to us; it belongs to the Lord!

P.S. God has a plan and purpose for your life!!  We should not allow our influences of this temporary world impact our relationship with God. Stay focused.  It’s worth it.

“But the Holy spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5:22-23 NLT

Jesus is Love,

Chelsea
